In The News: Hope Rising Hosts Domestic Violence Vigil

The McKinney Courier-Gazette published a great article about Hope Rising’s 2nd Annual Candlelight Vigil which was held in downtown McKinney on Friday, October 9, 2014.

At a time when pink dominates the airwaves and public showings, purple shone brightly Thursday night in downtown McKinney. Hope Rising, a charity dedicated to helping victims of sexual and domestic violence, hosted its second annual candlelight vigil to honor such victims in Collin County. About 40 men, women and children gathered at the McKinney Performing Arts Center for the somber, yet inspirational event. “We must jolt awake and end domestic violence,” said Brooke Jones, keynote speaker and founder of Stronger than Espresso, a McKinney-based nonprofit that educates and supports victims of abuse. “We have to make domestic violence so wrong there’s a social shunning every time it occurs.”
