Hope Rising’s Flash Mob is Back!

We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary by bringing Hope Rising’s flash mob back to McKinney, Texas! Tell your friends, family and anyone else who might like to join us for a spontaneous and fun dance experience. This event is open to EVERYONE — kids, teens, and adults of all ages.

You don’t have to be a good dancer, and you don’t need any special skills. We’re simply looking for people who want to have fun and raise awareness. Mark the date on your calendar now, and make plans to join us on Feb. 18.

WHY DO WE DANCE?

We will join the world in shaking the earth to bring awareness and stop the violence against women. 1 in 3 women across the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.

Every February, people rise – in hundreds of countries across the world – to shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face.  We rise through dance to express joy and community and and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence.

LEARN THE FLASH MOB DANCE

You have two options for learning the dance.  You can learn it online or join us for free lessons where you will be taught the dance and have a chance to practice it with other flash mob participants. It’s a great way to meet others who will be there, and it’s fun!

PRACTICE WITH US

Join us at Native McKinney (207 N Tennessee St, McKinney, TX)  on Sunday, February 12 at 4:00 pm to practice with us before the flash mob. It’s not required, but it’s a fun way to get prepared and meet others who will be participating.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We recommend wearing casual, comfortable clothing and shoes. If the weather is nice, t-shirts and jeans with sneakers work well. If it’s cold, you may want to add extra layers.

WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET?

All participants should meet on the south lawn of the McKinney Performing Arts Center in downtown McKinney (111 N Tennessee St, McKinney, TX) on Feb. 18. The flash mob will perform twice:

  • 2:07 pm (arrive at 1:30 pm)
  • 3:38 pm (arrive at 3:00 pm)

You can participate in just one or both of the dances.

Please arrive on time if you want to participate.
