11th Annual Hope Rising Flash Mob

Join us on Saturday, February 24 for Hope Rising’s annual flash mob in McKinney, Texas! Tell your friends, family and anyone else who wants to join us for a spontaneous and fun dance experience. This event is open to EVERYONE — kids, teens, and adults of all ages.

You don’t have to be a good dancer, and you don’t need any special skills. We’re simply looking for people who want to have fun and raise awareness. Mark the date on your calendar now, and make plans to join us at the historic downtown McKinney courthouse on Feb. 24 for dances at 2 pm and 3 pm.

WHY DO WE DANCE?

We will join the world in shaking the earth to bring awareness and stop the violence against women. 1 in 3 women across the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. That’s ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.

Every February, people rise – in hundreds of countries across the world – to shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face.  We rise through dance to express joy and community and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence.

The dance is easy. You can learn it online by watching one of these helpful videos.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We recommend wearing casual, comfortable clothing and shoes. If the weather is nice, t-shirts and jeans with sneakers work well. If it’s cold, you may want to add extra layers.

WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET?

All participants should meet on the south lawn of the historic downtown McKinney courthouse (111 N Tennessee St, McKinney, TX) on Feb. 24. The flash mob will perform twice:

  • 2:00 pm (arrive at 1:45 pm)
  • 3:00 pm (arrive at 2:45 pm)

You can participate in just one or both of the dances.

Please arrive on time if you want to participate.
